The Future of Sustainable Beer?

Here at curious.earth Towers we like beer. Not too much beer. Just a bit of beer now and then. We want to share with you something beer-related that we’re interested in.

That thing is genetically engineered yeast. Let us explain. Beer needs hops. And hops need loads of water, which for the eco-conscious is – ironically – hard to swallow. As explained in curious.earth #3 clean water is scarce. By genetically engineering hops we can remove the need for that water altogether.

We see this development as the beer equivalent to lab-grown meat. Find an environmental problem – engineer an environmentally friendly solution – produce a near-identical product and while reducing our impact on the environment. Happy days.

Have a read and see what you think.
