Here are our top tips for how to be sustainable wh Here are our top tips for how to be sustainable when it comes to festive food...🌱 Going vegan is one of the best things you can do for the environment. Animal agriculture is responsible for 18% of global emissions so cutting down on meat and dairy is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint. Not to mention, if everyone in the UK ate a vegan Christmas lunch then 2 million turkeys and 125,000 pigs would be saved.👩‍🍳 Lots of the supermarkets have launched new vegan celebration foods this year and the @weareveganuary website has a list of their favourites as well as a guide to festive food with some great suggestions and recipes. For more yummy vegan recipes check out some of our favourite vegan accounts:

@bestofvegan📝 Whatever you decide to cook, one of the best ways to reduce food waste as well as save some pennies, is to make a menu plan and shopping list ahead of time. This means you’ll only buy what you need and not be tempted by any so-called bargains!🥪 If you do end up with some leftovers, avoid adding to the 230,000 tonnes of food and drink we throw away every Christmas in the UK, instead check out the @lfhw_uk website for loads of different recipes and tips for using up specific festive leftovers. You can also freeze most foods so make friends with your freezer!💚 Another great use for unwanted foods is to think of your local food bank - @trusselltrust have lists which can help you find your nearest one. You can also use @olio.app to share items with your local community.🤔 What are your favourite tips or recipes for leftovers? Will you be giving vegan a try this Christmas? Human-created mass now outweighs all biological ma Human-created mass now outweighs all biological mass ⚖️Have no doubt, the Anthropocene is here...👨‍🦱 Multiple studies and findings are marking the official crossover into a new epoch: the Anthropocene where we acknowledge that human imprint on the Earth is now irreversible and urgent large-scale action is needed to protect and heal what we have left.👨‍🦱 Anthropogenic (human-created) mass is defined as the mass from inanimate solid objects made by humans, not including waste. In 1900, anthropogenic mass equated to just 3% of the Earth's overall mass, and has since almost doubled every 20 years. Each week, we add mass equal to the mass of Earth's 8 billion people and mass of plastic is now double that of all animals and marine creatures. Biomass has simultaneously decreased due to deforestation, industrial agriculture, and mass urbanisation.🖥️ But we also live in an age of innovation and technological advancement, which could help to create industrial-scale solutions that will prevent us from depleting our resources and instead, repurpose what we've already taken.🏠 Othalo is a company that takes the problem of plastic waste and uses it to solve another like the housing crisis. A single 60 square metre Othalo home upcycles 8 tonnes of plastic waste, taking it out of our oceans and into long-term solutions.🛋️ Several emergent technologies could be used to tackle the problem of concrete (which contributes to 8% of global carbon dioxide emissions), by using additive manufacturing and 3D printing to turn crushed buildings into public furniture.👩‍💼 But the big question is, will corporate and political powers realise fast enough that our species hangs in the balance, and dedicate the commitment and funding needed to ensure our future?#anthropocene #epoch #anthropoceneepoch #othalo #plasticwaste #innovation #anthropogenicmass #biologicalmass #humans #humanity #humanspecies #anthropoceneera
💰What is ESG investment?💰ESG are the key f 💰What is ESG investment?💰ESG are the key factors for measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment in a company of business.
There are three criteria:
🌿 Environmental: are they using renewable energy, or making a commitment to reduce their carbon footprint? Are they contributing to a shift in consumer behaviour?
🤝 Social: are they paying fair wages and supporting their employees’ wellbeing? Are they making positive contributions to the community around them?
🏛 Governance: how diverse is the representation on their board? Do they have separation of power between chairperson and CEO?Why has ESG investing become so popular?
📈 Data shows that well-managed companies, exposed to fewer structural and governance-based risks, were providing returns to rival the more traditional growth investment strategies.
